bike

so it was AMAZING out the other day and i decided to go on a little bike ride up the boardwalk

started pedaling and got lost in the mid 60’s temp and bright sunshine

i rode past girls in bikinis and boys playing volleyball

just kept pedaling and thinking about how crazy it was that Christmas was only a few days away

next thing i knew i was past Santa Monica!!

i’d started at the Redondo Beach Pier and ended up riding to the 3rd Street Promenade,

making little detours through Venice Beach and Marina Del Ray

all in all a little over 21 miles

my legs were super wobbly and that’s when i realized that i hadn’t thought about how to get home

doh!

i won’t lie, i was pretty worried, but i decided to test my luck and pedaled over to the restaurant where Will works

and merry christmas to me!!  he was there.

he laughed at me, brought over a glass of wine and then loaded me and my bike into the back of his SUV and drove me home

which is awesome, because there’s no way in hell i could’ve made it back

typical aubrey scenario

merry christmas lovies

Drop Zone: Tahiti

December 25, 2008

I attended the premiere of Greg Browning’s Drop Zone: Tahiti on Sunday night in Hermosa Beach.

Alex Gray, one of the film’s surfing stars, was on hand to lend his charm.

The movie allowed me to zone out, a perfect end to a great weekend, but didn’t leave me with the need to urge my friends to see it immediately. But hey, maybe I’m just jaded from repeat Step Into Liquid viewings (probably not fair to the Drop Zone crew, seeing how S.I.L. is considered by some to be the pinnacle of surf documentaries.)

Bonus points for the score however, which totally has me digging around online trying to build next summer’s beach playlist.

Anyway, it’s a great film to curl up to on a rainy day or veg out to on a lazy Sunday.
