My cousins, John and Rick, run a small LED technology company based in Los Angeles. I help them out with marketing and public relations from time to time. Their products can and have been used in everything from safety equipment, NASA products, clothing and handbags to set designs and airplanes. The three of us usually head out to Las Vegas in January to stump for the company at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES). It’s always a great time and we get to meet tons of cool people and prospective investors. We couldn’t go to the show this year because John and his wife Christina had their first baby girl, but it all worked out for the best because they ended up getting a call from Kanye West’s costume designer who needed to come up with something for Kanye to wear during his Grammy performance. Rick and John created the illuminated jacket and sunglasses that Kanye wore on stage and at the afterparties.

They tortured me and called me from the backstage VIP areas and during a private concert at one of the industry afterparties. They were with Kanye and Jay Z backstage before Kanye went on and got to roam around hair and makeup doing their best undercover celebrity watching. I’m really proud of them and how far they’ve taken this company. I’m also WAY jealous that I couldn’t be there with them at the show. Here are some clips of their work and Kanye’s performance.
